Small horizontal jigs are the go-to when targeting panfish. The Clam Drop Jig and the Drop Jig XL are both effective options but have slightly different applications.
The Clam Drop Jig is a popular finesse jig for panfish. It works very well for sunfish and tough finesse bites where you’re using just a single spike or small plastics. The Drop Jig XL has a larger and wider gap hook that works well for crappies and perch which have larger mouths. The XL hook also works better when gobbing up multiple waxworms and using larger profile plastics.
Both jigs have their applications and both work well, but make sure to match the hook size to the type of fishing that you’re doing.
