In this tip, Wisconsin guide Josh Teigen shares how he uses tip downs to locate crappies where you can have 3 lines per person making them a great way to cover a lot of water.

When targeting crappies over large weed flats, he rigs his rods with a tail-hooked minnow and sets them about 3-4 feet off the bottom. Once you notice one tip down starting to get hit more often, you can move in to start jigging those areas to get on the school of crappies.
