When Jason Mitchell uses his charts, especially when targeting specific structure like boulders, reefs, or transitions, there are a couple features he uses to enhance his screen. He focuses on the side imaging and GPS portions of his screen and adjusts the panels by zooming in to make whatever he is targeting look larger.

So for example, if you have a side imaging and 2D unit, make the side imaging bigger. If you have a GPS map and your 2D sonar, expand the panels that are the most beneficial so you get a better image.

A lot of times in shallow water, especially when Jason is casting, he’s not using his 2D to mark fish. He’s using it to see how deep the boat is so he can cast into the fish. However, he focuses most on the GPS. Focusing on precise boat control because that’s especially important in shallow water.

Using this feature, adjust the panel sizes so that whatever feature on the unit that you need that day to capitalize on your fishing, expand it and make it easier to read.
