Renowned Green Bay guide, Bret Alexander, has a go-to strategy when the bite gets tough: the Rippin Rap. “A lot of times when fish get really negative, you want to show them a lure to get some reaction bites out of, and the Rippin Rap is a great bait,” says Alexander. “Use a pretty aggressive style of working it, letting it fall back to the bottom.”
Alexander stresses the importance of an aggressive presentation and staying alert: follow your line down as the lure falls because that’s when the fish usually strike. “They hit it all the time when it’s fallin’, you’ll feel a little ‘tick’,” Alexander explains.
