Vexilar’s FLX-30 is a broadband sonar unit which gives you the ability to select different frequencies. Why is that important? Selecting your frequency allows you to control your cone angle. It ranges from 160kHz to 300kHz which makes your cone angle range from about 15.5 to about 7 degrees. If you’re fishing deep water with a tight group of anglers, tightening up this angle not only allows you to eliminate seeing other angler’s jigs but also helps to reduce interference. When fishing shallow water, drop it to a low frequency to get a wider cone angle for a wider coverage area.
This unit is super versatile. Therefore, the next time you’re out with your FLX-30, make sure you utilize your frequency setting so you can make the most of your sonar unit and time on the water.
