What are trim tabs and what do they do?
Trim tabs, such as the Zipwake system, are a smart investment for boaters because they create a smoother, dryer, and faster ride. Trim tabs are mounted on the stern on either side of the motor and can be raised and lowered mechanically to counterbalance waves when cruising or to get up on plane faster. For example, lowering the trim tabs at take-off will raise the boat’s back end and lower the bow by creating an upward force under the boat. This allows the boat to ride on plane quicker and more efficiently. As an added bonus, this reduces the workload on the your outboard and improves fuel efficiency.
Testimony
Guide and tournament angler Will Pappenfus is on the water daily, encountering many different boat-driving conditions. Pappenfus admits a favorite feature of his Vexus DVX 22S is the Zipwake trim tab system. For Pappenfus, Zipwake’s responsiveness and ease of use are what make the difference. The Zipwake dynamic trim tab system is the fastest trim tab system on the market allowing for quick adjustments on the fly. It is straightforward to control with a dash-mounted dial and you can also use it in auto mode, which self-adjusts based on conditions making it an incredibly user-friendly system for even novice boaters.
Versatility for everyone
Zipwake trim tabs come in different sizes that fit anything from 16-foot lake-going fishing boats to 100-foot ocean-going vessels with multiple motors. They can also be used with both inboard and outboard motors.(not just Pappenfus’s 22 foot Vexus cruising across Cass Lake!)
If you’re looking to save on gas, a smoother, drier ride, faster speeds, and overall better performance, then look into Zipwake trim tabs for your boat.
