When fishing in increasingly colder weather in the fall, one of the biggest issues found at the boat launch are frozen ramps. Icy ramps often cause accidents including boats sliding off trailers, trucks sliding into the water, and people slipping when unhooking the boat.
When it comes to reducing ice build up, there is one trick people often forget about. Instead of pulling straight out of the water once the boat is landed, wait a bit for it to drain before pulling up the ramp. Letting it drain into the lake instead of onto the ramp will help not only help reduce disasters for yourself, but also everyone else hitting the water.
