With the lack of snow this winter and no rain so far the river is really low and so is the flow. No big rains or snow in the forecast means the river is going to stay low which is extremely uncommon for this time of year and I have never seen it.
The Sauger fishing has been really good. With my boat catching them up to 23 inches. We are extremely lucky to have a strong Sauger population and have the size that no other pool or anywhere in the Midwest has. The Walleye fishing has been slow as I assume they are still out in the basin of Lake Pepin.
Vertical jigging and Dubuque rigs are still working rather well. Berkley bonefish, curlybones, ripple shads and rib worms are my go to baits. Some hair jigs are working also. White ice, purples and chartreuse have been good colors. Water temp is 46-47 with 1-3 foot clarity.
Perch Fishing on pool 5 has been really good. Drop shot rigs and small jigs tipped with a piece of crawler or minnow. Find the current seams and the small flats towards the dam area.
