Leech lake has had some pretty good walleye action going on. We are finding the fish on mid lake rock piles in 12-14 feet of water. Using my Lowrance Active Target to spot the schools of fish, I have been casting a #2.5 Purplez-it colored Shiver Minnow at them looking for the reaction bite or, if they don’t like that, an old traditional slip bobber with a gold CPT jig and leech usually gets them to bite. Another easy way to target the walleyes is to rig up a 1 ½ oz bottom bouncer with a Northland gold spinner with red beads and crawler trolled at 1-1.3 mph around the edges of the rocks.
