Double hooking your minnows this way will allow you to fish walleye in heavier cover with ease and can keep your jig baited a lot longer when jigging aggressively or pounding bottom as well.
Holding the minnow upside down, thread the hook through the mouth and come out the belly. Then, push the collar of the jig head into the mouth and turn the jig bending the minnow body at an angle to push the hook back up and through the belly so that the end sits hidden inside the minnow just behind the head. Not only does this give a weedless bait effect, but also gets the hook back a bit further into the bait for shorter biting fish and streamlines the profile to make it that much more natural and enticing for a strike.
