Swimbaits are such a versatile bait. You can fish them in deep water, open water, and even run them through shallow thin weeds. In deeper basins, make a long cast to cover ground and wait a few seconds to let the bait sink. Depending on how large your bait is, it should drop about a foot per second. After roughly 5 seconds, give it a good pop to get it going.

The retrieve is pretty simple, just point your rod tip right at the bait and reel steady, adding in an occasional fast burst and quick pause. The faster bursts slightly change the action of the bait and cause the paddletail to flutter and the bait to slightly drop as you pause. Do the bursts and pauses at different variations without getting into a rhythm making it as erratic as you can.
