WALLEYE:
A bit of a later season bug hatch is happening, and the water is cooling down, making the fish school up more, but slowing down is vital with the cool water and readily available forage.
Slowing down means running bottom bouncers in 18-24 feet with a short 3-foot leader and single number 6 octopus hook and quarter crawler at .8 mph trolling speeds. A 1-ounce weight is a good go-to, but if you increase depth or wind, feel free to upsize to stay closer to the bottom.
PANFISH:
With the cooling water, we’re starting to see perch, crappie, and bluegill schooling up nicely. You kind of have to drive around until you see them on 2d sonar or side imaging. Then, you can get over the top of them and vertical jigs with small tungsten jigs with great success.
