West Winds Resort is reporting that the potholes they were seeing out from their access in the east side of Upper Red Lake have closed up and they will be opening on Thursday, November 30th for walking traffic only. The access will be open from 7 am to 5 pm and will cost $15 per vehicle to park and walk out. They are encouraging people to come off the ice at dark for increased ice safety and accountability. Their bait shop will be open at 7 am Thursday morning. As of this post the ice has no snow cover so remember your cleats.
JR’s Corner Access is also reporting that they will be opening their access and lodge 7 am Thursday, November 30th as well for walking traffic only. They are reporting 5.5-7 inches on the main sheet of ice with some pockets of 2 inch ice that should grow by Thursday. JR’s bait shop will have rainbows and fatheads in stock and they have a few shoreline sleeper houses still available as well.
Rogers’ on Red is reporting they have staked a road out to a 1/2 mile to 10.5 feet of water out from their access. They have 6-7 inches of ice and have pockets that only have 2 inches at the moment. These areas have been staked off. Rogers’ on Red will be opening their access 7 am Friday, December 1st, for walking traffic only. Anglers will not be permitted on the ice before or after dark. Their bait shop will be stocked with rainbows and fatheads and they also have some houses and campsites available. The bunkhouse is also currently available.
