Targeting bass and walleye this week in the Twin Cities. It’s been all over the place this past week as the fish are finally making real summer movements and transitioning to their summer patterns. We’ve used everything from wacky rigs and chatterbaits shallow, to drop shots and ned rigs out deep. We’ve even flipped a lot of mid-depth cover as well! The bass bite is falling into place nicely and will continue to get better as the fish school up. As far as the walleyes go, we’ve done the best on some type of swim bait. A Clam Outdoors Drop TG jig head in 1/8oz tipped with a Mister Twister Sassy Swimmer has been the most dominant. Super simple approach, even puts a bunch of bass and pile in the boat as well!!
Anywhere from 3-20 feet this past week. Yes, I know… that’s a wide range… but tis the season!! Things are beginning to fall more inline in that 8-15 range now though and should be that way when everyone reads this report. Weed lines and sparce weed clumps. Everything in our area seems to be relating to clean weeds.
