We have been fishing for large and smallmouth bass for the past week, but getting pike and walleye with the bass techniques as well.
Moving baits in dirty water… like swim baits and chatterbaits. Paddletails rigged on All-Terrain Tackle Smallie Smashers. The Ned Rig has caught a pile of fish in the last week as well. I’ve been running a Z-man Nedlock head with a Mister Twister Ned Ringer plastic… super durable and productive. My son did really well on a topwater popper over the rocks for smallmouth and largemouth, too.
It’s that time of year where many fish start to move out, but it really depends on the body of water, water clarity, sun conditions, etc. We’ve caught fish in 2-feet of water and as deep as 20-feet of water. Rocks seem to be the key this past week, as they are holding to hard bottom a decent amount. The deeper coontail hasn’t really setup the way I like it to on some of the lakes I fish, but that is changing by the week.
