The past few weeks we have been targeting mostly bass. We’ve been fishing a lot of weedless jigs like the All-Terrain Tackle Rattling A.T. Jig and Grassmaster Jig… pitching and flipping cover. We’ve also been using swimbaits out deeper on tungsten jig heads like the Drop TG. Seems like they are either up in the weeds or on the deep weed line.
Offshore structure but focusing on weeds and/or hard bottom. Sometimes it’s still under 10 feet when fishing “offshore” but it seems like they are not relating to the bank as much. They have also been buried in the thick weeds lately, too, so flipping and “punching” the heavy stuff has been critical.
If you’re running forward facing sonar, don’t be afraid to look out from the weed line as well, as sometimes these fish are relating to isolated pieces of structure off the beaten path. Otherwise make sure you’re making contact with the bottom… especially with the wind we’ve been dealing with. Increase the size of the weight or weight of jig, and give it an extra second or two to fall to the bottom.
