Okoboji/Spirit Lake, IA (August 18th, 2023)

The Iowa Great Lakes Fishing Report. West Okoboji bass continue to be on fire with lots of 18″ to 21″ bass. Fishing the deep weed lines and breaks using drop shot rigs or jig and Power Worm has been best. Gills are run and gun as they don’t like staying around the boat, but you can definitely get your fish if you move to stay around them in that 24 to 35″ range. Some crappies have been caught up in the weeds, slow trolling plastics over weeds in 12 to 14′. Guys are starting to fish muskies now as cooler water temps are finally here. Focusing their fishing the deep weeds.

East Okoboji finding a variety of fish along the docks and some of the points on the lake. Big Spirit is starting to lose some of the big algae bloom it had from hot water temps and no current. So, look for that lake to hopefully show some life here soon.
