The crowds are already coming down to Pool 4 as the weather and spring walleye action heats up. Water temps are 38-40 degrees over the past couple days and clarity is good, but getting some stain to it. This is a good thing and the bite is picking up. Great numbers of 16-19 inch fish along with a good number of large walleye are being reported.
Fish are being caught consistently from Evert’s Resort to the dam with some good reports coming from as far south as Lake Pepin. Current seams are always important. When you see fast water meeting slower water, fish that seam. Bottom contact is key. If your jig isn’t brushing against the bottom, go to a heavier jig. If you are getting snagged, move to a jig that is a little lighter. Jig and Minnow, paddle tail or ribbon tail plastics as well as hair jigs and blades are all producing well. The fish are feeding and it’s a great time to come to Pool 4.
