Pool 4 Mississippi River fishing report.
Fishing has been tough for Walleyes and Saugers as of late. The extreme heat has caused high water temps. No rain has killed the current flow as well. We are at extremely low water conditions. About the only place I have been finding a few hungry Walleyes are wing dams and wherever you can find some current flow. Simple slip sinker rigs with a willow cat, leech or a crawler. Some fish are coming on crankbaits casted as well. #5 Berkley money badgers and #7 Berkley flicker shads.
The bluegill bite has been really good. Backwater wood or weedlines. Wing dams are producing. Wood and weedlines in Lake Pepin are holding gills. A small jig pitched or under a bobber with a small piece of crawler. Largemouth Bass are biting decent. Casting frogs on top of the grass mats and lily pads is a blast! Looks like a cool down coming this week. Hopefully the water temp will start to drop soon. Fall fishing is right around the corner.
