Walleye fishing has been a bit tough the last month or so due to an abundance of shiners and perch. With that it seems the early morning and late evenings have been best including night trolling in 10-15 feet of water. Otherwise casting bobbers and a half a crawler is still very affective as well.
The smallmouth bite has been absolutely amazing. Drop shoting your favorite plastics or a small sucker minnow is working well. Fishing large boulders has been the ticket. As for depth it depends on the area. Don’t be afraid to fish 6 feet of water or 25 feet of water. With there being so much bait there seems to be fish all over the place as far as depths. Don’t spend a lot of time in an area even if you’re seeing fish. Keep moving until you find active ones.
