Leech Lake, MN (August 29, 2024)

Water Temp Low 70’s

PERCH:

Perch are starting to move into the Walker narrows area and can be caught with good consistency. Fish 6-8 foot sand/grass transitions with a 1/8 ounce jig and fat head to catch them.

WALLEYE:

Walleye are still their summer patterns and should stay that way until temps hit the 50s. Jigging raps, spinners with a crawler, and Lindy rigging a leech have been the best tactics. The fish are 13-18 feet off the edge of big flats adjacent to deep water. With lots of bait in the system, walleye have shifted from primarily feeding on crayfish to perch, judging from the stomachs of cleaned fish.

MUSKY:

Musky are on the rocks and rock reefs and have been showing themselves on small to medium bucktails reeled at high speeds.
