With January gone, a third of the Lake Winnipeg ice fishing season is behind us and the best word I can use to describe it is unprecedented.
Never before have we run into a year where there are so many fish around but the fish are so hard to coax into biting. With the technology we have in our arsenal, mega 360 and mega live, the fish simply can’t hide anymore. We know where the fish are and it’s easy to find them when they move. The problem we’re having is how tricky they are to get to bite at times. Downsizing presentations and live minnows have become a very important part of our arsenal. Somedays even essential.
