The water temp on Winnie spiked up to 68 degrees, and walleyes bit best in the morning. The fish were sucked tight to bottom, which makes them hard to decipher on forward-facing sonar. That’s where Humminbird side imaging can come into play by finding fish from a distance effectively on either side of the boat all at once, even if the fish are on the bottom.
Focus shallower in the morning, around 10 feet, and slide out to 20 feet as the day goes on.
Jigging fathead minnows with Northland Deep-Vee underpins have been great as an added attractant for fish that need more enticing.
