Walleye fishing on Vermillion has been great as of late. The more aggressive fish are over the deep mud gorging on blood worms, while some fish are caught in the sand feeding on baitfish. Trolling crankbaits with lead-core over the mud is still the best bet in 20-30 feet over mudlines. Choose 05-07 size Berkley Flicker Shads for lures and run 05 sizes back 125 feet and 07 sizes back 120 feet with lead core. Trolling speeds should be between 2 and 2.4mph. Lots of strikes are triggering on the turn, so after you mark fish, wait 5 seconds and start your turn.
