Lake Sharpe, SD (January 11, 2025)

Ice conditions on Sharpe are 6 to 10 inches. The deeper channel is usually 6 to maybe 8 inches depending on current. The channel bite has been good in 25 to 35 feet of water but that ice can be vary because of current so check ice.

Most of the walleyes are being caught early in the morning until about 10:00 am  and then again in the evening from 5 to 7 pm.  Midday has been really slow.  We have been concentrating on the shallower points and flats in 13 to 17 ft closer to shore.  Any jigging spoon works tipped with a minnow head.  Dead rods with jigs and minnows have been very productive.

We have been fishing Joe Creek down through West Bend and North Bend. We haven’t yet had enough bitter cold, so the ice feels a touch behind.  We can still boat fish the first 12 miles of the river below the dam. Many of our groups on ice are all getting limits of 15 to 19 inch walleye with an occasional 20 to 24 inch fish mixed in.
