The summer fishing bite on Lake Mille Lacs continues to be good! We are seeing most of our walleye caught from the mud flats and deep rock piles. Trolling fire tiger crankbaits or crawler harnesses with green or gold spinners have seemed to produce the most bites. During the day the walleye slide off the edges of the mud flats and move back shallow once the sun starts to go down. 22-28 ft seems to be the depth we are seeing the most action in currently. The smallmouth bass bite has been really good as well with ned rigs, dropshots and tubes seeming to be the best at getting fish off of large boulders.
The great part about Mille Lacs is you have a good chance to catch walleye while fishing for smallmouth and a good chance to catch smallmouth while walleye fishing! Good luck out there!
