Kabetogama Lake
Anglers on opening weekend had some fantastic weather and a good bite as well. I was targeting walleye and while we had good success we also caught a good number of jumbo perch mixed in. These fish were found in depths from 25’-35’. Jigs tipped with a rainbow minnow and vertical jigging produced best for us. The last couple of days I’ve spent more time on the shallow bite that’s been in 4’-8’ of water. Pitching jigs in shallow water is lots of fun and right now very productive! My advice to anglers fishing “KAB” in the coming days would be to start shallow pitching some jigs but don’t be afraid to look in deeper water as well.
