For walleye, fish shallower than you think as the shiner run is on and schools of bait are shoaling up in 3-12ft. Best activity has been morning, evening and even night but a few fish are being caught during the day in wind or dirty water. The classic 1/8oz jig and minnow will get you bites. Don’t be afraid to try hair jigs and 3-4in plastics on jigs as well. Panfish continue to push shallow and can be found in warm muck bottom bays. Catch them with a bobber and small jigs with plastics, hair, or crappie minnows as well. Largemouth bass can be found in the emerging lily pads and cattails on a variety of weedless lures while smallmouth are staging on shallow sand/rock flats being caught on 4in paddle tails, jerkbaits and squarebill crankbaits.
