Water Temp High 60’s
Cass – Winnie – Leech
Water temperatures have dropped close to 10 degrees in the last week, improving fishing. Walleyes are sitting in 17-23 feet. Some fish are headed shallow, but we have not yet seen that shallow push unless the wind blows, so stick to around 20 ft for now. Leeches and bobbers are still producing well, but start rigging up those jig rods as the water cools. Underspins on jigs like the Northland Smeltenator and deep Vee jigs are starting to work well and will only improve. Tip these jigs with fat heads or small shiners if you can find them. Key things to look for are weedlines and rock transitions, especially up on tops of rocky structures. Plan your fishing for when the wind picks up, as it has made for the best days.
