Over the past couple weeks we have seen one of the strongest perch, walleye, and pike bites in years. In terms of size AND numbers.
-We have been finding perch in basins around 20-35 feet. Softer bottom is best as these fish are gorging on bugs and shrimp. These have been some of the biggest perch we have seen. Jigs tipped with plastics or waxworms have been working as have smaller minnow style lures and smaller spoons. We have seen mostly aggressive fish but if they get tight lipped downsizing your presentation helps.
-Walleye and pike are following break lines and weeds if they are available. Eating shiners or suckers on set lines and spoons or jigging rap style lures tipped with minnow heads if jigging.
