Main lake temps on Ft. Peck remain in the high 30’s to low 40’s while creek arms can have warmer temps in the low 50’s. Walleye are mainly being caught on jigs and plastics or minnows in 15-22 feet of water. Vertical jigging can be effective if fish are as deep as 25 feet. When in cooler water temps a slower presentation is best. The game right now is playing the strong winds. With heavy cold-front W-NW winds, hug the western shores for ease of fishing and safety.
With the cooler water, lake trout are being caught at a variety of depths from 10ft out to 80ft. With that 40-60ft being the sweet spot for jigging. Anglers targeting walleye have caught incidental lake trout in shallow water and a few fish are being caught down rigging.
