Captain Kyle Tokarski guide on the Bay of Green Bay in Wisconsin
This past week, I’ve been back on the Bay guiding for smallmouth bass in the Sister Bay area in Door County. The bite has been on fire! This time of year, it’s a high numbers game with some quality fish mixed in. I’ve averaged 40 to 70 fish a trip. Most fish are done spawning now and moving out to weed lines right off the spawning bays in 6 to 10 feet of water. For finding the biggest fish on the main lake, look for rock structure, humps, islands, and reefs. Those fish been ranging in the 9 to 14 feet of water.
Baits that have been working the best have been Keitech swim baits, Megabass Dark Sleepers, and Rapala Brat square bills. Water temp has been ranging from 67- 72°. The best tip I have for you is to have a good GPS mapping unit to find these rock fingers that come out from the reefs and islands.
