The perch are roaming the basin of Devils Lake right now. When you find them this winter, especially early on here they are nice sized and willing to bite. Tungsten with wax worms and small spoons with minnow heads are catching the bulk of the bigger perch.
The walleyes are acting a little differently. Most of the walleye bite for us has been better in the evenings before dark. Buckshot type lures with a full minnow hooked in the back on structure like sunken humps and old submerged roads are producing best.
One thing to watch is if you don’t have some sort of track machine don’t even bother. If you don’t find someone who does! Lots of snow on the ice already is making extremely hard to get around.
