As the cold front moved in the past week the fishing still stayed strong. Changed it up a little and fished for walleyes, crappies and bluegills with great results around the board. The main structure we have been concentrating on the areas where the tighter contours meet the slow tapering contour lines from 18 to 30ft. The Tikka Minnow has been the go to lately and there have been very few that have denied it.
On the panfish side of things we have been finding both bluegills and crappies shallow in the shallow weeds and roaming in the basin. The shallow approach has allowed us to hunker down in an area and just work it while the basin continues to be a chase game as they are on the move in search of bugs and baitfish. The Pinhead Pro in both a 1/32 and 1/16 have done very well and when fish become lethargic we are switching to 3 and 4 mm drop jigs topped with maki minnows in white with red flake.
Ice continues to grow and have been finding a good solid 12” of ice with more in spots and no slush. This cold front really helped lock things up!
