This past week I left the Green Bay area to head to Bemidji Minnesota to target musky for a few weeks.
This past week, fishing has been good. This time of the year northern Minnesota has a very cool bite that happens after the musky get done spawning. They move out to the open water and feed on ciscos and whitefish. The lakes we have been fishing are small, deep lakes in the Bemidji area. The areas we are targeting are hard to soft bottom area looking for mayflies. If the Mayflies are there, so will the white fish. With muskies right behind them.
The depth I’ve been fishing has been 35-87 feet. Most fish have come on beaver baits and bull dogs. The key to open water fishing is the moon phases. Really keep on eye on them as all bites have been close to some moon phase.
