Big Stone Lake, MN (January 12, 2025)

Big Stone Lake has been a fun fishing destination for the multi-specie bite this winter!  Anglers are reporting numerous big walleyes, a decent crappie bite, some giant bluegills and a decent number of perch!  The bite everyday has changed along with the weather with some days being very tough but other days very productive.  Most of the fish are being caught in the 11-13 ft basin.  The crappies and bluegill seem to be holding closer to the breaklines.  Traditional techniques of tungsten jigs tipped with spikes has worked well on the panfish with bigger spoons for the walleyes and pike.  Big Stone Lake has a very healthy fish population and we look for the bite to improve as the winter weather stables out.
