Here is your Alexandria Lakes Area Memorial weekend fishing report!
Water temps have been ranging from mid 60s to even the low 70s depending on the lake and the weather. With the forecasted temperatures for the weekend I expect to find a lot of panfish up shallow in 4 foot or less. Some are already guarding beds so please practice selective harvest when targeting bed fish to protect our resource. On our shallower lakes we growth is quite substantial and your walleyes are hanging around them ready to eat. Find the deeper weed lines around 12-15 feet in most lakes or look for cleaner sand bottom areas on the inside weedlines in about 6-9 feet.
A jig and shiner is hard to beat but good sized fatheads will work also. Make long casts with a 1/16th or 1/8th ounce jig and work it back to the boat or long line the same jig or lindy rig behind the boat moving around 0.7-1.0 mph. If you like to night troll, now would be a good time. Target those shallower sand flats in less than 8 feet or go over the tops of the emerging weed growth in 8-12 feet.
Have a fun and safe holiday weekend, the prime spring time walleye bite is happening right now!
