Water clarity can be crucial to finding success on any lake, but particularly bodies of water like Devils Lake. This year water levels are up and in return water clarity is reduced. In many areas of the lake, particularly those susceptible to run off, visibility is only 3″ to 6″ limiting presentation visibility. Below are a few keys to finding success in these situations:

  • Find Clear Water By Trying Shallow Bays and Avoiding the Wind and Run Off
  • Look For Warmer Water
  • Look For Shallow Water
  • Use Slow & Consistent Presentations ( slow retrieve cranks, plastics, and even slip bobbers)

On Devils Lake particularly, identify “tea-stained” color water where you have better visibility and can see down maybe a foot and a half to two feet.
