Lake Mille Lacs, MN (Jan. 9th, 2024)

Isle Bay continues to have good ice and solid fishing. However, the big news of the last few days is the main lake has locked up. 

Red Door Resort has reported that starting today (Jan. 9th), their access is open to foot traffic out to the first break. They have rooms and parking available. Please stop in to the resort before heading out on the lake. They are reported 4+ inches of ice everywhere they have checked out to the first break. 

Lyback’s is reporting 5-9 inches of ice out from their resort. The access is still closed however they have staked the Graveyard Road, the road to the NE side of Pope’s Reef, and the North Pope’s Rd. They are reporting they are hopeful to open the office and access to foot traffic, ATV, and snowmobiles with portables on Thursday, January 10th, barring additional snowfall.

Beachside Resort: Beachside Resort is allowing foot traffic, ATV, snowmobile and SxS access to the Wahkon area of Mille Lacs. They have roads staked and are asking people to stick to the road system at this time. There is a shuttle service available as well for $12.50/group. Perch and walleye bite has been good in 8-14 ft of water and decent at 20 FOW. Deadsticks with small suckers have been hot for walleye.
