In the second installment of Virtual Angling’s “Boating and Rigging” series, we go inside Jason Mitchell’s Crestliner Pro Tiller 1850. As shown in this video, Mitchell keeps things simple in terms of gear, but when it comes to electronics, he pulls out all the stops.
Starting at the stern of the Pro Tiller, Mitchell has a Mercury 90 horsepower ELPT 4-stroke motor. On either side of the outboard, he has Walleye Masters splash guards installed. There are many quality splash guards on the market, but Mitchell believes these are the most durable and handle big waves extremely well. Further down on the stern are multiple sonar transducers, mounted on mounting blocks. These allow adjustments to be made without having to drill extra holes into the hull of the boat. Mitchell runs a side imaging transducer along with a skimmer transducer gives him high speed depth readings.
